Full plot (contains spoilers)
In the turbulent 1990s, when Romania was marked by spontaneous strikes, currency exchanges on every street corner, and everyone’s dream of becoming a patron of the arts, eleven girls (Dora, Felicia, Grațiela, Valentina...), each more beautiful than the last, set off by bus toward the mirage of an artist’s life in Paris. They are accompanied by a shady local agent (Florin Călinescu), an unscrupulous driver (Constantin Cotimanis), and a Frenchwoman, Marion (Charlotte Rampling), who views the harsh laws of show business cynically. The unexpected comes in the form of Dora’s husband, Andrei (Mircea Diaconu), who cannot accept that she has left him and sets off in pursuit, in a chase spiced with car thefts, armed attacks, and kidnappings. Dora quickly becomes Marion’s favorite, while Andrei continues to hunt for her, with no intention of letting his prey go. With cynicism, confidence, and determination, the foreigner gets between husband and wife. Anything goes, seduction included. Driven by a lover’s despair, Andrei breaks the law: car theft, disturbing the peace, physical assault, hostage-taking... How can he explain to the police that, after all, he is only defending the sacred institution of marriage?
