Harter Brocken: Das Überlebenstraining (2022)

Zarah kills her employer, takes a small device—a weapon that emits an electromagnetic pulse (EMP)—from him, and flees with her accomplice Adam. They are headed for a small airfield in the Harz Mountains. When they learn that their car is being searched for, they decide not to risk continuing in it. By chance, they come across Tom and Alex, who are on their way to a survival weekend whose destination is very close to the airfield Zarah and her accomplice are heading for. Without hesitation, Zarah shoots the two men and decides to take their place on the trip with Adam. Frank Koops, the village policeman in the Harz, cares little for adventure and even less for birthdays. He therefore agrees only reluctantly to go on a survival weekend with his friend Heiner Kelzenberg, a gift from his colleague Mette Vogt for his birthday. He does so partly because he repeatedly turns a blind eye to Dominik, who wanders around the woods and takes magic mushrooms, driving away the guests of Nora, the survival instructor. Mette wants to use the days without Heiner to relax for once, since Heiner tends to go a little overboard when looking after their child. So Frank, Heiner, Martina, and the two criminals set off into the woods with Nora. On the way, Frank receives a wanted notice on his smartphone, which Zarah notices. Using a pretext, Frank and the two criminals try to split off from the group and reach the airfield. Meanwhile, Mette and Dominik set off into the woods to look for the group. At a reservoir, Frank manages to get hold of the EMP weapon. He threatens to drop it into the reservoir if Zarah or Adam shoot him. Since the two, in turn, threaten to shoot a couple of hikers who happen to be passing by at that very moment, he gives the device back to them. By now, Adam has realized that Frank must have told Heiner something, so he sets off after Heiner, Martina, and Nora. He shoots Martina and manages to overpower Nora and take her to Frank and Zarah. Heiner had managed to escape Adam by climbing a tree while fleeing. As a result, he even gets a signal on his phone again in the dead zone, allowing Mette to locate it. Frank decides to mix magic mushrooms into a soup, which causes pronounced hallucinations, especially in Adam and Zarah, who eat more of it. Zarah explains that she stole the EMP weapon because her brother died as collateral damage in a war. At Frank’s instruction, Nora runs off, with Adam chasing after her. Just as he is about to shoot her, Dominik comes to the rescue and manages to shoot Adam with Adam’s own weapon during the struggle. Zarah reaches the airfield with Frank. Before getting on the plane, she knocks Frank unconscious with her weapon instead of shooting him. As the plane takes off, its engines suddenly cut out, and Zarah sees Frank holding the EMP weapon. He crushes the weapon, and the police, alerted by Mette, arrest Zarah.
