Mathieu makes a three-day round trip to Montreal to learn more about the father he has never seen. In Quebec, he is met by Pierre Lesage, his father’s best friend, who seems displeased by his arrival. Full plot (contains spoilers)

At thirty-three, Mathieu Capelier does not know who his father is. One morning, a phone call from Canada informs him that his father, Jean Edel, who lived there, has just died in an accident. After this unexpected news, Mathieu decides to make a three-day round trip to Montreal to learn more about the father he has never seen. When he arrives in Quebec, he is welcomed by Pierre Lesage, his father’s best friend, who seems somewhat displeased by his visit. Mathieu reassures Pierre, promising not to tell the deceased man’s family who he is—notably his wife and his two sons, Sam and Ben Edel, Mathieu’s supposed half-brothers. After meeting them, Mathieu is deeply disappointed and does not want to spend any more time with them. However, he finds comfort with Pierre’s family—notably his wife, Angie, and his daughter, Bettina—and eventually discovers the real reasons why Pierre contacted him.
