A visit to Paris brings a warm-hearted beautician under the same roof as her embittered sister, setting up three days of uneasy cohabitation.
The story
When a publisher she sent her first novel to arranges a meeting, Louise, a beautician from Le Mans, travels to Paris for three days. She stays with her sister Martine, who can’t stand her; the two have little in common. Naive and warm-hearted, Louise contrasts with Martine, who is bitter and leads an idle bourgeois life in a superb apartment in an affluent neighborhood. Martine lives with her wealthy husband, Pierre, whom she does not love, and a young boy in whom she takes little interest. Their stay brings petty digs and major arguments, making peaceful cohabitation unlikely.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
When one of the publishers she sent her first novel to arranges to meet her, Louise, a beautician in Le Mans, heads to Paris for three days. She stays with her sister Martine, who can’t stand her. In fact, they have nothing in common. Naive Louise is a bit of a silly airhead, but she has a heart of gold. Martine, by contrast, is nothing but a mass of bitterness. She leads an idle bourgeois life in a superb apartment in an affluent neighborhood, alongside her wealthy husband Pierre, whom she doesn’t love, and a little boy she takes no interest in. Between petty digs and major arguments, living together is going to be anything but peaceful.
