Full plot (contains spoilers)
Concerned, Valerie travels from Germany to Marseille to find out what has happened to her son Simon, who works there as a doctor at a hospital and has stopped getting in touch with her. She also asks Jens, Simon’s former boyfriend, to come and help her search and communicate with the authorities, because Valerie does not speak French. Together, they try to find out what has been going on with Simon lately. At the hospital, he took leave, bought a ferry ticket to Morocco, but never boarded the boat. Gradually, they both realize that they did not know Simon as well as they thought they did.
