Full plot (contains spoilers)

Fourteen-year-old Mona is the youngest of Judith and Stefan Lessing’s three children. When she confesses to her parents that she is four months pregnant, it adds to the strain on their already troubled marriage. Mona’s father, Stefan, a gynecologist who teaches sex education at her school on a volunteer basis, is initially overwhelmed by his daughter’s pregnancy. After her parents have an argument, Mona leaves home and moves in with Roman, the 17-year-old father of the baby. He tells her that he cannot provide for her and the child. Two months later, when she discovers that Roman has had a girlfriend throughout the time they have been living together, she packs her things and leaves. After spending a night on the street, Mona is asked by her father to come home, where the family has meanwhile grown closer again.
