On the day Neri mysteriously disappears, Bruno meets Luca, a withdrawn young man who suffers frequent panic attacks and knows about Bruno’s debt. The two discover they share a hatred of their respective fathers. Full plot (contains spoilers)
Bruno, a forty-year-old Swiss man living in Turin, has two secrets he has decided to tell no one, not even his wife Anne: first, he has discovered that he is sterile; second, he has run up a debt of 200,000 euros with a bank chaired by the loan shark Giorgio Neri. On the day Neri mysteriously disappears, Luca enters Bruno’s life—a withdrawn young man plagued by frequent panic attacks who knows about the debt Bruno has incurred. The two share a hatred of their respective fathers, and Luca’s presence brings back memories Bruno had painfully repressed, connected to his childhood and especially to his father, a selfish and insensitive painter. This return to the past will allow him to understand Luca’s tragic act: Luca has just murdered his father, the banker Giorgio Neri.
