After Egon’s money-transport robbery goes to plan, the Olsen Gang must contend with three enemies and a policeman.

The story

Egon’s robbery of a money transport succeeds as planned, but the Olsen Gang’s enemies—the King and the Kid, along with the Kid’s sister—show up. The gang’s struggle over the money now involves these three adversaries and policeman Mortensen. The film’s humor partly draws on slapstick, including foolish policemen.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

Egon’s heist (the robbery of a money transport) goes entirely according to plan, but then the Olsen Gang’s enemies show up: the King and the Kid, along with the Kid’s sister. The film’s main theme is thus the Olsen Gang’s struggle over the money against these three enemies, as well as against the policeman Mortensen, who, as usual, cannot get the better of the gang and only manages to make his boss, the Chief of Police (Bjørn Watt Boolsen this time), look ridiculous again and again. Some of the elements that would recur in several of the later films begin to take shape here, in the fourth film. For example, Kjeld, Yvonne and Børge have now moved to their regular home on Asta Nielsen Stræde in Valby; Yvonne is beginning to become somewhat domineering, and several of the gang’s familiar expressions also appear. The film’s humor, however, still partly belongs to the old slapstick category, as seen, for example, in the rather silly policemen.
