Full plot (contains spoilers)

The Frankfurt construction contractor Jochen Schuster is on the verge of despair. He is so deeply in debt that no financial institution is willing to provide him with any more funds. He really ought to file for bankruptcy, but then he gets a saving idea: with the little money he has left, he buys a wig and borrows a limousine. Under his new identity, disguised by the wig and riding in the impressive stretch limousine, he turns up at various financial institutions. At first, his plan works: the institutions—above all the Germanische Bank—grant loans in the amounts requested by the disguised Jochen Schuster to a man they do not know. Since he intends to use the borrowed money to preserve German cultural assets, the banks see no risk. Now that funds are flowing in the amounts he wants, Schuster becomes overconfident and falls back into the old business practices that had already driven him to ruin under his real identity. The same thing happens to him again under his new identity.
