Plötzlich Opa (2006)

After the parents of thirteen-year-old Jonas Ettenberger are killed in a traffic accident, the big-city boy from Hamburg has to move, on the order of the youth welfare office, to live with his grandfather in the deepest reaches of the Bavarian countryside. The boy has a hard time getting used to country life and the local dialect, and his widowed grandfather likewise has difficulty adjusting to his grandson, whom he is only meeting now, since contact with his son, Jonas’s father, had been broken off for a long time. However, Jonas quickly becomes friends with his new classmate, Julia Stelzer. Besides his grandfather, Jonas also has an uncle, Harald Messner, who lives in relative affluence with his wife Sonja on Lake Starnberg. When the two discover that Jonas has inherited a lot of money, they win custody of him, which Sonja in particular expects to turn to financial advantage. Jonas, who has by now grown very fond of life with Grandpa Ludwig and his housekeeper Rosi, has to move again and begins to rebel against his aunt so he can live with his grandfather again. Julia also fights for her friend. With the help of her mother’s new boyfriend, the lawyer Patrick von Halen, they succeed.
