Full plot (contains spoilers)

Baptiste Cambière (Pierre Rochefort) is a young substitute teacher who refuses to form attachments in favor of a freer but solitary life. It is while looking after Mathias, one of his pupils, on a Friday evening during Pentecost weekend, that he meets the boy’s mother, Sandra (Louise Bourgoin). A seasonal worker on the Mediterranean coast, she is unable to care for her son as she would like. Haunted by a past burdened with abandoned plans and debts, she is contemplating running away. Baptiste then decides to break the silence that has lasted far too long between him and his wealthy family so that he can help her.
