The story
Camille Prader, an anesthesiologist from Bordeaux, is having an affair with Clémentine, a married woman who wants to live with him. The prospect weighs on him, though he cannot bring himself to tell her. After meeting Stéphanie at a conference, he accidentally takes Juliette Graveur’s suitcase at the airport; Juliette is a concert flautist. To avoid Clémentine and, later, his budding affair with Stéphanie, Camille invents a relationship with the musician, using her concert tours to explain his absences.

Camille Prader, an anesthesiologist from Bordeaux, is having an affair with Clémentine, a married woman who wants to live with him. The prospect weighs on him, but he does not dare tell her. Returning from a conference where he met the charming Stéphanie, he accidentally takes the suitcase of a stranger, Juliette Graveur, a concert flautist, at the airport. To escape the smothering Clémentine, and later his budding affair with Stéphanie, Camille invents a relationship with the musician, whose concert tours explain his absences. But this lie takes on an unexpected scale in his life, until he can no longer extricate himself from it.
