Full plot (contains spoilers)
Lydia and Vincent Lufft adopted Marie, who is now 10, so Vincent would have better chances of promotion at Henderson Games, a company with a very child-friendly image. But Marie and her friend Nick come up with a plan: they want to fake a kidnapping to get away from their adoptive parents. Max Hoch, an expert from a security firm, is called in to track down the supposedly kidnapped Marie. Unlike his girlfriend, Max himself does not want children. He soon realizes that the kidnapping must be fake. However, when Heinz Michelin, a family friend who wants to use the reward for Marie’s safe return to pay off his debts, insists on helping with the kidnapping, he brings along two real kidnappers as his assistants. Max takes Marie to his unsuspecting girlfriend Karo to protect her. In the meantime, the police themselves begin to suspect Max of having kidnapped Marie. He can prove his innocence only by setting a trap.
