Full plot (contains spoilers)
The underage daughter of a dissolute married couple living on Ackerstraße in Berlin flees her parents’ apartment because she is subjected to repeated abuse. After collapsing in the street, she is taken into the home of a young university professor, who cares for her there for a long time. One day, her benefactor, with whom the girl from Ackerstraße has fallen in love, enters into an illicit relationship with her. This happens immediately after he has celebrated his engagement and after his servant, following a staged assault, has also taken possession of the girl. The girl’s parents file a complaint against the scholar for seducing a minor, with the intention of blackmailing him. The desperate scholar shoots himself after entrusting the girl to a friend’s care. (Synopsis from the record of the Berlin Supreme Review Board, No. 177)
