Full plot (contains spoilers)
Journalist Doro Kagel investigates her school friend Leonie, who is in a coma and is said to have murdered three people on an island. While investigating on location, she meets Timo Stadtmüller, who confesses to her how everything happened. It went like this: A group of childhood friends had met on the island. After Leonie’s feelings for Timo were rejected and she felt generally sidelined, she wanted to kill herself. During an earlier struggle over the pistol, the child was shot dead. Timo then killed the Cambodian cook. Packaging the whole thing as a newspaper story secures Leonie’s acquittal.
