The story
After years away, Brigitte Voss—once known as Dalli—returns to her homeland, hoping to recover from professional burnout at the Immenhof estate. The Jantzen family has left, and the estate is now occupied by the Arkens family: twins Billy and Bobby, their widowed father Alexander, and their grandmother, the Tsarina. The twins welcome Brigitte and hope she will stay. Alexander, however, greets her brusquely, believing she is responsible for the termination of his lease. Economic pressures have made renewal under new terms impossible, leaving him considering emigration, while Brigitte is unaware of how the property manager she hired has treated him.

Brigitte Voss, formerly known as Dalli, returns to her homeland after years away because of professional burnout, hoping to recuperate at the Immenhof estate. The Jantzen family no longer lives on the estate; it is now home to the Arkens family, consisting of twins Billy (Sibylle) and Bobby (Roberta), their father Alexander, and their grandmother, known as the Tsarina. The twins greet Dalli warmly and hope she will stay longer. Alexander Arkens, the widowed tenant farmer, receives Brigitte Voss rather brusquely, because he believes she is behind the termination of his lease. Given the economic situation, which makes it impossible to renew the lease under new terms, Alexander Arkens feels compelled to consider emigrating. Brigitte Voss has no idea how the property management company she hired is treating her tenant, and only later learns the source of the tension between her and Alexander Arkens. After she then terminates the property management company's contract, Dalli and Alexander Arkens grow closer; however, the arrival of Brigitte's former boss, who wants to bring her back, causes renewed confusion.
