Wanting to keep the money hidden from the tax authorities, she gives it to Barbara, though she initially hesitates to trust her. Barbara, meanwhile, is contemplating a new life and becomes intensely flirtatious with her childhood sweetheart, Samuel. Her husband, Gregor, reacts angrily to their closeness, setting off a tense family conflict.
