Full plot (contains spoilers)

Daniel Bauer, played by Ken Duken, is a withdrawn loner who works as a gardener at the botanical garden. His coworkers feel provoked by his stoic reserve, but know nothing about his seemingly unmotivated outbursts of violence and dark activities. At first, these involve Daniel throwing rocks from a highway overpass onto the road, causing a fatal accident. Later, however, he steals a hunting rifle and shoots two people in a park. Unlike her coworkers, Jana (Franziska Weisz) is drawn to him. Despite his rejection of her, she falls in love with Daniel and manages to get close to him. Daniel slowly begins to open up to Jana and the world. But she, too, knows nothing about his dark secret. Meanwhile, the police have already begun investigating and have blocked off the park entrances, so Daniel eventually has to hide the rifle in his apartment. Jana eventually discovers Daniel’s secret through entries in his diary, but promises to cover for him. To do so, she even pretends to the police that she is his wife, and at first manages to lead the investigators nowhere. But when Daniel tries to get rid of the rifle in the botanical garden, his violence reaches its climax. He knocks Jana down with the rifle butt and then shoots himself.
