A desperate father with a gun locks six teachers in their staff room and demands they debate the one point his son needs to qualify for the Abitur.
The story
On a Friday afternoon, six teachers are still in the staff room at Rudi Dutschke High School when Manfred Prohaska appears at the door. The ambitious, desperate father wants his son to have the chance to qualify for the Abitur, but that depends on one missing point, which deputy head Klaus Engelhardt refuses to award. Prohaska pulls out a gun and locks the staff room. He expects the teachers to spend the next hour discussing whether to give the point. The staff includes a popular PE teacher, a despised French and music teacher, a guidance counselor, a chemistry teacher, a conservative Latin teacher, and a young trainee.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
On a Friday afternoon, there is a knock at the door of the staff room at Rudi Dutschke High School. Still there are six teachers: the popular PE teacher Peter Mertens, the despised French and music teacher Heidi Lohmann, the guidance counselor Holger Arndt, the chemistry teacher Bernd Vogel, the conservative Latin teacher and deputy head Klaus Engelhardt, and the young trainee teacher Sarah Schuster. Outside the door is Manfred Prohaska, an ambitious and desperate father who is determined at any cost to ensure that his son gets the chance to qualify for the Abitur. The deciding factor is one missing point, which Klaus Engelhardt refuses to award under any circumstances. In desperation, the father pulls out a gun and locks the staff room. The teachers are now supposed to spend the next hour discussing whether to award this one point. However, the conversations that follow focus less on the students than on the personal demons of the individual teachers.
