Full plot (contains spoilers)

A man (simply called Our Hero), disillusioned with modern society and still reeling from a breakup, grows more misogynistic by the day, following repeated frustrations with women and his inability to form normal relationships with them. On a business trip with his colleague Raphaël Tisserand, who is less experienced than he is in romantic relationships, he sinks further into dark thoughts, taking his colleague along with him. At a nightclub one evening, Our Hero urges Tisserand to replace his attempts at seduction with violence and hands him a knife. Tisserand later dies in a car accident, which plunges the protagonist even deeper into depression. While staying in a psychiatric hospital, he continues to rant against women and society, rejecting its stereotyped values (a hierarchy of domination through power among men, and a hierarchy of seduction among women). Even so, the film ends on a positive note: Our Hero takes dance lessons and finds himself face to face with a woman who is considerably taller than he is and smiles at him.
