Full plot (contains spoilers)

The shy and awkward Viktor Knudsen (Robert Hansen), who is in his first year of upper secondary school, is hopelessly in love with the lovely and beautiful 18-year-old Anja (Sofie Lassen-Kahlke), a third-year student. But the rich man’s son, the suave and wealthy Peter (Joachim Knop), who drives a sports car, also wants to be more than just friends with Anja. Viktor’s two best friends, Thorkild (Karl Bille) and Nikolaj (Jonas Gülstorff), advise him to get Anja out of his head. Viktor invites Anja to Thorkild’s party, but she is not keen on going; her best friend Gitte (Mira Wanting), however, persuades her. The two girls’ thoughts and conversations revolve a lot around sex and trying it. Anja says she wants to have sex with Peter. Viktor is standing in the cloakroom when Anja and Gitte arrive. Shyly, he tells Anja that she has a lovely jacket—the nicest one he has seen all evening. He has to go to the bathroom to splash some water on his face and cool down. When he finally works up the courage to go over to her and ask her to dance, he gets the hiccups. There are countless attempts to stop Viktor’s hiccups, but none work. Anja says, “I’ll give you a huge kiss if you hiccup one more time.” Viktor dreams that the two of them kiss, but he quickly comes back to reality and has to realize that he can no longer hiccup. Anja and Gitte take a taxi into town. At breakfast the next day, Viktor’s little brother Esben (Rasmus Albeck) asks him whether he got any “pussy,” prompting their mother (Karen-Lise Mynster) to ask him to use more appropriate language. The next day at school, Thorkild and Nikolaj pressure Viktor to talk to Anja. His attempt is thwarted by Peter, who makes fun of him over his hiccup routine at the party. Viktor’s little brother Esben and Anja’s little brother Brian (Sebastian Jessen) write a fake invitation to Anja’s 18th birthday party. When Viktor receives it, he calls Anja, but her little brother Brian answers. Brian confides in Viktor that if he wants to make Anja really happy, he should buy her a tarantula. At the birthday party, Anja is very surprised when Viktor arrives. The spider causes a lot of commotion and amusement among the guests, and Peter sabotages Viktor’s attempts to catch it. He trips Viktor, who falls, is knocked unconscious, and later wakes up in Anja’s room—with the hiccups. Anja does not get the chance to kiss Viktor, however, because her father, Willy (Kristian Halken), interrupts them. Viktor comes by the next day and invites Anja to go to the woods with him. Peter tries to stop her, since he and Anja already had plans to go to BonBon-Land. Without Viktor’s knowledge, Thorkild and Nikolaj have arranged a canoe trip for the two of them. As they lie in the canoe, their conversation naturally turns to sex, and after talking for a while, they admit that neither of them has tried it. They then make a deal: Viktor will buy condoms and come over while her parents are playing bridge. Viktor is too shy to buy condoms, though, and gets his little brother to do it for him. A trip to the cinema ends badly for Viktor when a strange young woman kisses him in front of Anja and Gitte, causing Anja to shout, cry, and run away. It turns out that Peter paid his cousin to do it—and Esben and Brian have it on tape. Viktor gets the tape and borrows Thorkild’s Puch Maxi to ride over to Anja’s and show it to her, but he has a traffic accident and breaks his leg. Anja visits him in the hospital and apologizes for not believing him. She says, “My parents are away all weekend, so we’ll have the house all to ourselves.” But Viktor is not optimistic: he is worried about his leg. Anja says to Viktor with a smile, “It’s not your leg you’ll need.” The film ends with Thorkild, Nikolaj, and Gitte having painted Peter’s black Porsche with white paint. Finally, Peter sees Anja and Viktor on Esben and Brian’s video camera as they begin touching each other, but the camera runs out of battery, and that is where the film ends.
