Inside the restaurant “Arturo al Portico,” run by Flora, the customers and kitchen staff share various stories, conversations and adventures, revealing their troubles, lives and personal histories. Among the main stories are Isabella and her daughter Sabrina, who struggles to confide in her mother that she intends to enter a convent as a novice; the complicated and amusing romance between a married philosophy professor and a student; a conversation between two actors about the new play they will perform; and a couple discussing the future of their relationship (the young woman is pregnant), while a seductive woman sits at the next table.
