Full plot (contains spoilers)
An adaptation of Stefan Zweig’s novella “Letter from an Unknown Woman.” A melodrama. The story begins in Vienna at the very start of the 20th century. At the age of 13, Rosa saw an adult man for the first time: the writer Albert Rank. From then on, he became the meaning of her life, her one true love, which she carried with her throughout her life. But the selfish, frivolous Albert, for whom women were merely a pleasant pastime, did not even notice Rosa. One day, when Rosa had grown into a young woman, he briefly paid attention to her, but after a few nights he casually left her, forgetting she existed. Many years later, Albert receives a confessional letter from a stranger. As he reads it, he realizes that he may have passed by the love of his life.
