The story

Her parents, Chris and Caroline, divorced, and Caroline remarried doctor David Wahl, with whom she has two children, Greg and Mélinda. Now a series of unsettling events begins, accompanied by black orchids: Caroline hears Garance’s voice, signs connected to the dead girl reappear, and Mélinda speaks of a new friend named Garance. Tom Jérôme, a police inspector and lover of Caroline’s friend Lucie, reopens the old investigation as attacks and threats gather around those connected to the case.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

In a small town, seventeen years ago, Garance was kidnapped, and her body was later found decapitated and burned. The killer was never identified. Her parents, Chris Corday (Matthias Habich) and Caroline (Jane Birkin), divorced. Caroline remarried David Wahl (Benoît Régent), a doctor. They have a son, Greg, and a daughter, Mélinda. Today, everyone seems to have forgotten. A series of events take place, accompanied by black orchids: Caroline hears Garance’s voice in the storeroom of her friend Lucie’s shop (Sabine Azéma). The angel on Garance’s grave is decapitated. Garance’s clown doll, which disappeared with her, reappears. Pamela (Bénédicte Loyen), the only witness to Garance’s kidnapping, is stabbed in her home. Mélinda talks about her new friend Garance, a beautiful blonde with blue eyes. The gravedigger is knocked out in the cemetery. Tom Jérôme (Jean-François Stévenin), a police inspector and Lucie’s lover, takes up the investigation again. Tina Morgane, an employee of Lucie’s, is knocked out in the shop’s storeroom. Chris is shot and wounded at the door of his house. Geneviève Longueville (Jany Holt) is handcuffed to her bed, and her house is set on fire. Inspector Vasseur, who botched the investigation and has since become a private detective, is shot in the back of the neck with an arrow that pierces his throat, at home. Guillaume Longueville (Michel Bertay), Geneviève’s brother, who has a murky past, is drowned in the swimming pool during closing time. Mélinda is abducted in front of her school.
