The story

In the 1940s, as the Second World War begins to draw to a close, managers at the Swedish textile factory Örnen worry about the future and the foreign competition they expect. They summon Cederqvist, an engineer and time-study expert, from Stockholm. With nearly all working-age men away on military service, almost the entire factory workforce is made up of women. Cederqvist’s own view of his appeal, however, differs from how the women who work there see him. The article provides no further plot details.
