A novice’s plans to save a convent children’s home are complicated by an inheritance dispute and an unexpected romance.
The story
Louisa is preparing to enter a convent novitiate when she learns that her uncle Theodor has died and left her half of his estate. Hoping to use the inheritance to save the convent’s children’s home, she follows Sister Barbara’s advice and travels to Theodor’s estate, where her brother Danio lives. Danio, whom Theodor trained as a perfumer, is reluctant to share the inheritance. There Louisa meets Fabian, Danio’s friend and business partner, and the two fall in love. As Louisa returns his feelings, she begins to question whether entering the convent is still the right choice.

Louisa is about to enter a convent novitiate. Shortly beforehand, she learns that her uncle Theodor has died. He has also left her half of his estate. Louisa wants to use the money to save the convent’s children’s home. On Sister Barbara’s advice, she travels to Theodor’s estate, where her brother Danio also lives. Theodor trained Danio as a perfumer. Her brother is not at all keen on sharing the inheritance with her. Fabian, Danio’s friend and business partner, falls in love with Louisa. She feels the same way and is having doubts about her decision to enter the convent. Sister Barbara understands the situation, since she went through something similar with Alfons.
