After speaking with her dying father, Anna continues to see and talk to him at home while the fathers of her three daughters return.
The story
Anna speaks with her father as he lies on his deathbed. Afterward, she continues to see and talk to him at home in Finistère, where she lives with her mother and her three daughters: Fanny, Camille, and Lilli, each with a different father. Their household also includes Joséphine, a woman in a wheelchair who says she hears “the Belgians” in the walls. The daughters’ fathers return: Max, Camille’s father; Jean, Lilli’s father; and Fanny’s father, whom Anna left when she was very young after he was unfaithful. Their return brings the family’s past back into Anna’s present.
