Full plot (contains spoilers)
Pietro and Alvise are the two heirs to a family of moeche crab fishers on Giudecca, Venice’s most popular island. They clash amid the relentless transformation changing the life and identity of Venice and its people: the ever-deeper impact of global tourism has altered the very relationship between the city and its citizens, between home and life, and the pandemic has made this crisis even more evident. Despite the hardships and loneliness, Pietro would like to keep fishing for moeche, the crabs typical of the lagoon. Alvise, on the other hand, sees their home on Giudecca as the ideal means of making a fresh start, as he tries to enter the elite of the real-estate power that governs the city. Their conflict involves the whole family, in a collective portrait of how our world is changing.
