The story
Nine-year-old Yuki learns that her French father and Japanese mother are getting divorced. The separation will change where she lives: she is expected to leave France and move to Japan with her mother. The plot description establishes the conflict between her family’s decision and her attachment to her friend, without saying what she ultimately does.
