His single mother, Cecilia, believes he should be home with the rest of the family. With Abel’s father absent, Cecilia must make her case for keeping her son at home.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
Abel is a nine-year-old boy admitted to a psychiatric hospital because of possible childhood psychosis and severe selective mutism. Cecilia, his single mother, is sure that the best thing for her son is to return home to the rest of the family. She convinces the doctor to let Abel leave for a week, during which she will try to prove that there is no need to transfer him to a children’s hospital in Mexico City. With his father absent, Abel becomes an unconventional father figure who, one way or another, manages to bring his family together. But this cannot last, since his father finally returns from the United States after a long absence of two years.
