Himlen Falder (2009)

Sara was removed from her family at the age of 11 and placed with a foster family. Now, at 28, she learns that her biological mother has died. Despite her reluctance to delve into her unresolved past, she travels to Funen to attend the funeral and see her older brother, Danni, with whom she was close as a child. Sara soon discovers that neither Danni nor her father, Kjeld, recognizes her, and she chooses to keep her identity secret. Her plan simply to see her brother and return to Copenhagen changes when she discovers that she has two little sisters. She begins keeping watch on her father’s house, and terrible events gradually come to light, with threads leading back to Sara’s childhood. *Himlen Falder* is about confronting one’s past and rising from the dust. The film is inspired by the Tønder case.
