A Budapest fashion designer believes she recognizes her long-lost daughter in a young French woman.
The story
Anna works as a fashion designer at a clothing firm in Budapest. One day, she thinks she recognizes her daughter in a 22-year-old French woman. Anna had entrusted her daughter to a family in Vienna in 1957 while she arranged for her deceased husband’s body to be repatriated to Hungary. Before she could reunite with her child, Anna was arrested and later released from prison; by then, the family she had entrusted with the girl had disappeared. The possible recognition raises the question of whether this young visitor is the daughter Anna lost track of.
