A work-stressed career woman takes her younger sister on holiday, where their first time together exposes tensions and changes how they see each other.
The story
Thirty-three-year-old career woman Anna takes her 18-year-old sister Marie on a holiday in Benidorm, Spain. Anna is carrying private and professional burdens: she is hiding a planned abortion from her boyfriend, Philip, while coping with work stress. The trip gives the sisters their first real time together, and they gradually learn more about one another. Marie has long admired Anna, but begins to see the unhappiness beneath her sister’s confident façade. Their growing closeness is strained when Marie falls in love with Max, a man Anna picked up while drunk on the first night of the holiday.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
The 33-year-old career woman Anna has given her 18-year-old sister Marie a holiday together in Benidorm, Spain. Anna actually has other problems at the moment: she is hiding a planned abortion from her boyfriend, Philip, and she is also dealing with the usual work stress. Nevertheless, she sets off on the booked trip. For the first time in their lives, the sisters have time together and gradually get to know each other better. In the process, instead of the admired big sister, Marie gradually sees the unhappy woman behind Anna’s feigned self-confidence. When Marie falls in love with Max, whom a drunk Anna had picked up on the first night, conflict erupts between the two sisters. Only when, after an argument, Marie runs in front of a car and is admitted to hospital with serious injuries does Anna realize what matters to her in life.
