A young diplomat poses as his friend’s Brazilian aunt to chaperone two dates, but unexpected older guests soon complicate the party.
The story
Young diplomat Dr. Otto Wilder travels from South America to Vienna for a meeting of a large business syndicate, where he meets Carlotta Ramirez, the company’s attractive widowed principal shareholder, and is immediately taken with her. That evening, he puts on women’s clothes to help his younger brother Ralf and their friend Charley. The two need a chaperone for dates with Swedish women Britta and Ulla, so Otto poses as Charley’s aunt from Brazil. Their party becomes more complicated when Ulla’s strict father and Charley’s father arrive uninvited and court the supposed aunt.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
At the general meeting of a large business syndicate, which the young diplomat Dr. Otto Wilder has come all the way from South America to Vienna to attend, he meets the company’s attractive, widowed principal shareholder, Carlotta Ramirez, and is immediately taken with her. That evening, Otto Wilder puts on women’s clothes to do his younger brother Ralf and Ralf’s friend Charley a favor. Since the two need a chaperone for a date with the two attractive Swedish women, Britta and Ulla, Otto pretends to be Charley’s aunt from Brazil, unaware that this is Carlotta Ramirez. But the bachelors get into trouble when first Ulla’s strict father, who is also Britta’s uncle, and then Charley’s father show up at the party uninvited. The two older gentlemen unabashedly court the supposed “exotic beauty.” Finally, Charley’s real aunt, Carlotta Ramirez, also drops by. She notices that the false aunt is wearing her dress and embarrasses him. Only after the party is over does Dr. Wilder reveal his true identity to the horrified gentlemen. He has already won Carlotta’s favor anyway.
