A powerless father climbs a tree in a public square to protest losing his son and his place in a changing society.
The story
Divorced hotel employee Hans fears he is about to lose his son, Moritz, when his ex-wife, Linda, plans to emigrate to Denmark with the boy and her new boyfriend. Hans feels powerless, believing that men have lost their say in a society where feminism has become institutionalized and women increasingly shape public life. Unable to influence Linda’s decision, he takes a conspicuous stand: he climbs into the dancing linden tree at the center of the market square to protest what he sees as injustice.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
Divorced hotel employee Hans seems to be about to lose his son Moritz forever. His ex-wife Linda wants to emigrate to Denmark with him and her new boyfriend. Even though he is a man, he no longer has any say in society, because men are, after all, evolutionary dead ends. And since feminism has long been institutionalized, society is becoming ever more female, and he has fewer and fewer chances, he feels powerless and helpless in the face of his ex-wife’s decision. So he decides to sit in the dancing linden tree in the middle of the market square to protest all these injustices.
