Frontaliers Disaster (2017)

Roberto Bussenghi is an Italian cross-border commuter who is regularly stopped at the Swiss customs post in Bizzarone by border guard Loris Bernasconi for tax inspections. After yet another display of “zeal” (he had arrested his commanding officer’s wife), Bernasconi is fired and has to look for a new job. After numerous unsuccessful attempts, he is hired by the Sprungler & Kupfler company in Lugano, where Bussenghi also works. Bussenghi has meanwhile been promoted to project manager for an important, top-secret patent that has already attracted the competitors’ interest. Bernasconi becomes bodyguard to an exasperated Bussenghi, accompanying him in all his duties as well as in his private life. Their enforced closeness gradually smooths over their differences, and they begin to work together and become friends. Bussenghi even helps Bernasconi start becoming more independent of his mother and confess his feelings to his girlfriend, Amélie, by arranging a date for the two of them. Just as the date is ending, Bussenghi, Bernasconi, and Amélie are kidnapped by hitmen working for the competition—Nord and Sud, together with their accomplice Mastino, who had infiltrated Sprungler & Kupfler—in order to get hold of Bussenghi’s project. Verunell, worried about what has happened to his former colleague because he has not been in touch, decides to search for the trio with his son Chuck Norris. After various mishaps, thanks to Bussenghi’s manual skills, he, Bernasconi, and Amélie manage to stun Mastino and escape by car. Nord and Sud chase the three into Switzerland and manage to corner them in a ditch. Meanwhile, Verunell and Chuck Norris catch up with the criminals, and Chuck Norris manages to stun all three and have them arrested by the police. Amélie and Bernasconi officially become a couple, and Bernasconi is reinstated as a Swiss customs officer, promoted from the rank of corporal to sergeant. In the final scene, Bussenghi arrives at the Bizzarone customs post and is stopped once again by Bernasconi, who acts as though nothing has happened and pretends not to know him.
