Full plot (contains spoilers)
When Ida’s mother dies in a car accident, the just-17-year-old girl is placed with her maternal aunt and adult male cousins. Ida has not seen her mother’s side of the family for many years, but her new home is filled with love and warmth. Not least because of Bodil, the family’s domineering matriarch, who holds the family together. The family’s criminal way of life soon becomes part of Ida’s everyday life, but it is not always easy to distinguish violence and manipulation from love and care. Soon Ida realizes what her mother once fled from.
