The story
In Milan, a robbery at a jewelry store on Via Monte Napoleone turns fatal when a shot fired by fleeing bandits kills the young daughter of Engineer Vannucchi. As the child is dying, her testimony leads investigators to believe that one of the gang members has a scorpion tattoo somewhere on his body. The police fail to solve the crime, and Vannucchi decides to investigate by himself, despite his wife’s objections. His search begins with the limited clue left by his daughter and a determination to find those responsible.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
In Milan, during a robbery at a jewelry store on Via Monte Napoleone, a little girl, the daughter of Engineer Vannucchi, is killed by a shot fired by several fleeing bandits. On the basis of the testimony the child gives as she is dying, it is inferred that one of the gang members has a scorpion tattoo somewhere on his body. Since the police are unable to shed light on the crime, the girl’s father, against his wife’s wishes, begins investigating on his own. After various vicissitudes, he manages to track down and eliminate a gang whose leader wears a scorpion pendant—but they were not his daughter’s real killers… unbeknownst to him, those men had been eliminated by the police a few days earlier.
