The story
René Bailly, a young postman in La Givrine, a small village in the Jura, discovers the bodies of an unidentified woman and a young boy in the Wolf Cave, a cavern hidden deep in the Risoux Massif. When the bodies have disappeared by the next day, René faces doubt: should anyone believe what he saw, or is he being misled by local legends and superstitions? Solange, a young schoolteacher, is the only person who supports him as he begins investigating the puzzling disappearance.
