Claude, a bookseller facing serious financial difficulties, turns his shop into a sex shop on a friend’s advice. Business flourishes amid the sexual liberation of the early 1970s. In the course of his work, he meets colorful characters, including Jacqueline, who tells her husband Lucien about Claude when she gets home. The two decide, as a game, to lead astray Claude, whom they consider a bit of a simpleton. They manage to draw him into a life of debauchery (a swingers’ club without his wife, various initiations, and so on). But his wife, reluctant though she briefly gives in to a few temptations prompted by her clumsy, awkward husband, eventually puts him back on the straight and narrow.
