The story

Max is a self-confident, overweight boy who feels Indian at heart. When the Karl May Festival in Wolfitz City seeks someone to play Winnetou’s son, Max is sure the role is meant for him. He bets Morten that he can make it to the audition, with Morten agreeing to train with him if Max succeeds. Max is accepted and has twelve days to prepare. He must memorize his lines, improve his agility, and learn to ride, with help from his father, Torsten. As he works toward the part, Max also hopes to bring his parents back together, despite his father’s unreliability and his mother’s interest in her new boyfriend.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

Max, a self-confident, overweight boy, is an Indian at heart. When he learns that the Karl May Festival in Wolfitz City is looking for someone to play Winnetou’s son, he is convinced he is the right person for the role. Max bets Morten that he can get to the audition. If he succeeds, Morten will have to train with him. Max is indeed accepted for the audition and has twelve days to prepare for the role. Besides memorizing his lines, he needs to become more agile and learn to ride. His father, Torsten, helps him. Although Torsten is unreliable and Max’s mother has eyes only for her new boyfriend, Max knows he will get the role. He also sets himself the goal of getting his parents back together.
