Cerasella (1959)

Cerasella is a young woman about to marry Alfredo. Since she does not love him, she runs away just before the wedding and takes refuge on a small boat, where she meets Bruno, a rich and handsome young man who is, in turn, about to marry Nora. Bruno’s father pressures him to leave Nora, suspecting that she is interested only in the family fortune and not in his son. Bruno refuses his father’s ultimatum, and his father disinherits him. Bruno has now lost both his fortune and Nora, who decides to leave him when she sees the situation. Cerasella then helps Bruno find a job, on the condition that he pretend to be her fiancé; he agrees. Before long, the pretense becomes reality, and the two fall in love. Bruno’s father, realizing that the young man has given up everything just to marry Nora, consents to the marriage, and Nora does everything she can to win back her former fiancé, even going so far as to slander Cerasella. Bruno initially believes Nora, leaves his job and Cerasella, but Bruno’s father sets things right after speaking with the young woman.
