Full plot (contains spoilers)

During a stopover on her journey to Chile, 31-year-old swimmer Maria recognizes a Spanish children’s song at the airport in Buenos Aires (“Arrorro mi niño”). Although Maria doesn’t speak a word of Spanish, she remembers the song’s Spanish lyrics and melody. Disturbed and thrown off balance, she misses her plane and remains in the unfamiliar city. As she sets out to find an explanation, her father Anton suddenly turns up in Argentina. He confesses to his daughter that he is not her biological father, and that Maria lived the first three years of her life in Buenos Aires in the late seventies. When her biological parents disappeared in 1980 as victims of the Argentine military dictatorship, Anton and his wife brought Maria to Germany. After the confession, the close relationship between father and daughter threatens to crumble under the weight of years of lies. While Anton wants to return to Germany as soon as possible and leave the past alone, Maria sets out to find her Argentine family in Buenos Aires. But when she finds them, she learns that she was abducted and hidden by the people who would later become her adoptive parents. To the very end, the dethroned father fights for his child’s love, while the uprooted daughter fights for the truth about her true identity.
