A blacksmith’s sexual exploits fuel a record-breaking birth rate, which the mayor hopes to turn into a draw for visitors.
The story
Michael Horn, the blacksmith of Bumshausen, has sex with many different women, and the town has recently seen a record-breaking rise in its birth rate. Mayor Ehrentraut attributes the baby boom to the favorable climate and the potency-enhancing effects of the föhn wind. He hopes this explanation will attract couples who have so far been unable to have the children they want.
Full plot (contains spoilers)
Michael Horn, the blacksmith of Bumshausen, often has sex with many different women. Because of him, the town has recently seen a record-breaking rise in its birth rate. Bumshausen’s mayor, Ehrentraut, claims that the baby boom is due to the favorable climate and the potency-enhancing effects of the föhn wind. He hopes this will attract new visitors: couples who have so far been unable to have the children they want. And indeed, his plan seems to be working.
