A young officer’s widow oversees her nieces’ romantic pursuits and considers a painter as a possible husband for one of them.
The story
Madame Yanne, a young widow of an officer, cares for her nieces Florentine and Julia, who are preoccupied with each other rather than the men pursuing them. Stable hand Erik is eager to pursue both, while Simon hopes to win Florentine and marry her; she is interested, but wants to assess him as a lover first. For Julia, Yanne has a painter in mind as a possible husband, and she intends to judge for herself whether he might make Julia happy.

So Julia’s prospective husband gets a perfect score in the sex test. The relationship dynamics on the estate she runs are also starting to shift; only Madame Yanne seems unable to escape her life as a widow just yet. For now …
