The story
Anna, a young employee at a detective agency, takes on a missing-person case without telling her boss, Sam. The missing woman, Maria, had fallen into a deep depression after losing her child. Anna follows Maria’s last known trace to a secluded house on the coast of Brittany, France. There, Maria’s friends seem to know more about her disappearance than they admit. As Anna pursues the case, she begins to feel that someone is obstructing her search. The guarded friends and this sense of interference complicate her effort to find Maria.

The young Anna works as an employee at a detective agency. One day, without telling her boss Sam, she takes on a missing-person case herself. The missing woman is named Maria, and she had fallen into a deep depression after losing her child. Maria’s last known trace leads Anna to a house in a secluded spot on the coast of Brittany, France. Maria’s friends seem to know more about the missing woman than they admit to Anna. The detective even has the feeling that someone is obstructing her search. Only gradually does Anna realize that this search is also a search into her own past, which is marked by trauma. Her work forces her to confront long-buried memories, and this confrontation becomes a journey into herself, one so dangerous and self-destructive that the detective nearly takes her own life.
