Full plot (contains spoilers)
Maria lives with Vincenzo, a ruthless, heartless man of French origin, with whom she is in a subordinate relationship. He forced her to conceive children through surrogacy. She uses an IUD to avoid getting pregnant, but Vincenzo discovers it. While carrying her last pregnancy, she learns that the last baby sold illegally had died after a few months, and that the adoptive parents now want the €50,000 they paid returned. The two then move to a different home and, through a complicit gynecologist, find a gay couple to whom they can sell the unborn child. Maria gives birth alone at home, and Vincenzo takes the newborn from her and brings it to the two men. They have the baby examined and discover that it has a serious heart defect, so they no longer accept it. Vincenzo carries the cradle with the newborn to a dumpster near their home, but in the end leaves it in a playground, where Maria, desperately searching for it, finds it.
