The story

Gabriel, a young unemployed musician, is hired as a sales manager by an American funeral company and must complete a month of training at one of its branches. There, he is welcomed by Gervais Bron, the manager, whose 20 years in the business have not made him sensitive to grieving families. Their relationship becomes strained, particularly because Bron had coveted Gabriel’s position. Gabriel also struggles to tell his family and his new girlfriend Claire about his job; Claire is the granddaughter of Monsieur Froissard, a client whose wife recently died.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

Gabriel, a young unemployed musician, is hired as a sales manager by an American funeral company. He must complete a month of practical training at one of the company’s branches, where he is welcomed by its manager, Gervais Bron, who has worked in the business for 20 years. Because Bron is insensitive toward the families of the deceased, relations between the two men become somewhat strained, all the more so because Bron had coveted the position Gabriel got. Gabriel will also have great difficulty telling his family and Claire, his new girlfriend, about his new job. Claire is none other than the granddaughter of Monsieur Froissard, a client whose wife recently died.
