The story

Louis, a bricklayer paid by the job, works constant overtime to provide the comforts his family hopes for. His absence weighs on the couple, and their lack of communication contributes to difficulties in their relationship.

Full plot (contains spoilers)

Louis, a bricklayer paid by the job, constantly works overtime to provide his family, who live in a public housing estate in Martigues, with the comforts everyone aspires to. In a paradox of our society, this leaves him hardly any time to devote to his wife, Marie, and their children, Jean-Marc and little Corinne. The couple suffers from his absence, and because they do not communicate enough, they encounter difficulties in their relationship. By establishing a serious connection with her son’s teacher, Marie will both open herself up to culture and save her marriage through a different kind of conjugal relationship and a new social arrangement.
