The story
Rome and its surroundings frame the intersecting stories of four young women. Eugenia has come from Sicily to Pigneto hoping to succeed as a screenwriter, but encounters harsh reality. Tazia, from Parioli, is aggressive and domineering toward men. Michela, from Guidonia, faces uncertainty in her relationship with a carabiniere as a childhood friend returns, someone she has always cared for. Uvetta, a young aristocrat, longs to leave her privileged world and experience everyday life. Though their circumstances differ, the women are linked by their romantic nature and by Valeria, the psychologist each confides in while trying to find her place in the world.

Rome and its surroundings provide the backdrop for the stories of four different young women. Eugenia is an aspiring screenwriter who has come from Sicily to Pigneto in search of success, but soon has to face harsh reality. Tazia is a woman from Parioli, aggressive and domineering toward the opposite sex. Michela is a young woman from Guidonia whose relationship with a carabiniere is on shaky ground when a childhood friend returns—the friend she has always had a soft spot for. Finally, Uvetta is a young aristocrat eager to leave her world behind and engage with everyday life. Despite their differences, they are all connected by their romantic nature and by seeing the same psychologist, Valeria, with whom each confides and tries to find her place in the world.
